Your journey, day by day

Day 1 — Arrive in Beijing

Welcome to China. Your private driver will meet your family at the airport and take you directly to your hotel.

The rest of the day is deliberately unplanned, allowing everyone time to rest after the journey. Your guide will introduce the itinerary and help adjust activities around the children’s ages, energy levels and interests.

Overnight in Beijing.

Day 2 — Stories of Imperial Beijing

Begin in Beijing’s historic centre and explore the Forbidden City with a guide who brings its emperors, ceremonies and hidden details to life through family-friendly stories.

Continue to Jingshan Park for a view across the palace rooftops. The afternoon is kept light, with time for a hutong walk, a relaxed meal or an early return to the hotel.

Overnight in Beijing.

Day 3 — A Family Day at the Great Wall

Travel into the mountains to the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall. Cable-car access and a choice of walking routes make it possible to adapt the visit for different ages and energy levels.

Enjoy time on the watchtowers and quieter sections of the Wall before stopping for lunch nearby. Return to Beijing with the evening free.

Overnight in Beijing.

Day 4 — Temple of Heaven and Dumpling Making

Visit the Temple of Heaven in the morning, when local residents gather in the surrounding park for exercise, music and conversation.

Later, join a hands-on dumpling-making experience. Learn how to prepare the filling, fold different shapes and share the finished meal together. Recipes and flavours can be adapted for younger travellers and dietary needs.

Overnight in Beijing.

Day 5 — Beijing to Chengdu

Transfer to the airport or railway station for your journey to Chengdu. The most suitable flight or train will be selected according to your travel dates and preferred pace.

After arrival, meet your local driver and settle into your hotel. If everyone still has energy, take a gentle neighbourhood walk or enjoy an early Sichuan dinner with mild and spicy options.

Overnight in Chengdu.

Day 6 — Giant Pandas and Chengdu Life

Visit the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding early in the day, when the pandas are often at their most active. Your guide will help the family understand panda behaviour, habitats and conservation work while exploring the landscaped grounds.

After lunch, slow the pace with a visit to a traditional park or teahouse, where families can observe the relaxed rhythm of daily life in Chengdu.

Overnight in Chengdu.

Day 7 — Markets, Flavours and a Family Cooking Experience

Explore a local market with your guide and discover the ingredients behind Sichuan cooking. Children can learn about unfamiliar vegetables, spices and everyday food traditions without every dish needing to be hot.

Continue to a family-friendly cooking activity and prepare a selection of approachable regional dishes. Enjoy the meal together before a free afternoon.

Overnight in Chengdu.

Day 8 — Chengdu Your Way

Today is flexible so the family can choose what suits them best. Options may include an interactive museum, a neighbourhood food walk, a traditional craft activity, a park visit or additional time to relax.

Your guide will help balance structured activities with breaks, ensuring the day remains enjoyable rather than rushed.

Overnight in Chengdu.

Day 9 — Chengdu to Shanghai

Travel to Shanghai by the most suitable domestic flight or rail connection. Your driver will meet you on arrival and take you to the hotel.

Later, enjoy an introductory walk along the Bund, where historic waterfront buildings face Shanghai’s futuristic skyline across the Huangpu River.

Overnight in Shanghai.

Day 10 — Old Shanghai and the Modern City

Begin around Yu Garden and the Old City, exploring traditional architecture, lively lanes and local snack shops. Continue to the Bund to hear stories of Shanghai’s development as an international port.

Cross the river to Pudong for a closer view of the modern skyline. Depending on the family’s interests, include an observation deck, riverside walk or evening cruise.

Overnight in Shanghai.

Day 11 — A Shanghai Day for the Family

Shape the final full day around what your family enjoys most. Choices can include science and technology, art, wildlife, interactive museums, shopping or additional neighbourhood exploration.

Families wanting a slower day can combine one main activity with free time at a park, café or hotel. Finish with a farewell dinner selected around everyone’s tastes.

Overnight in Shanghai.

Day 12 — Depart Shanghai

After breakfast, your private driver will take you to the airport or railway station.

If departure is later in the day, additional sightseeing or free time can be arranged. Your family leaves with a journey shaped around shared experiences rather than a rigid group-tour schedule.

Flexible by design

Children’s ages, family room requirements, dietary needs, walking distances and rest periods will be discussed before the itinerary is confirmed. Activities and transport will then be adjusted to create a comfortable journey for the whole family.
